What are the steps and requirements for Maxem project onboarding?

Explanation of self-onboarding and project-based onboarding with Maxem.

Overview

At Maxem, every installation follows a clear project approach to ensure a smooth transition from sale to successful operation.Depending on the solution type, some projects can be self-onboarded via the Maxem Energy Cloud, while others require guided onboarding with a dedicated Maxem Project Manager or Technical Delivery Manager (TDM).

Project Types and Onboarding Approach

Solution Type Onboarding Approach Description
Charging Point Management System (CPMS) Self-onboarding Can be set up directly in the Maxem Energy Cloud. Partners and installers can onboard new CPMS sites independently by following the online configuration steps.
Static Load Balancing Self-onboarding Static Load Balance configurations can also be completed via the Maxem Energy Cloud without project involvement. This allows fast deployment and minimal coordination effort.
Dynamic Load Management (DLM) Project-based onboarding DLM setups require data exchange between charging points, meters, and Maxem controllers. The Maxem Project Manager and Technical Delivery Manager ensures correct configuration, validation, and performance testing.
Energy Storage System (ESS) Project-based onboarding Integration and configuration of batteries into the Maxem Energy Cloud requires technical alignment and validation by Maxem. The Maxem Project Manager and Technical Delivery Manager ensures correct configuration, validation, and performance testing.
Solar Curtailment Project-based onboarding Curtailment setups depend on dynamic site conditions and grid constraints, requiring guided onboarding to ensure safe and compliant operation.

Objective

The goal of the onboarding process is to bring your Maxem solution — including hardware and software — into operational readiness, while ensuring all stakeholders are aligned on scope, timing, and responsibilities.

Project Requirements — A Key Success Factor

For each project, it is essential that all required information and documentation are provided. This includes:

  • Site information and Single Line Diagram

  • Charger, meter, inverter and ESS details

  • Network and configuration data

  • Installation Validation

Timely delivery of these project requirements enables Maxem to plan resources, validate configurations, and keep the project on schedule. Delays or missing information may impact the project timeline or handover date.

Project Phases

Each project follows six structured phases

Phase Description Outcome
1. Sales  Agreement signed — welcome to Maxem! Contract signed, project created
2. Project Detailing Define project scope, technical setup, and planning. Detailed project plan
3. Realization Hardware installation, configuration, and initial platform setup. System installed and connected
4. Optimization System validation, tuning of load balancing, and performance optimization. Verified optimal operation
5. Finalization Handover documentation and commissioning report. Project formally closed
6. Regular Operation Steady-state operation with access to ongoing support. Support transferred to Operations

Roles and Responsibilities

Role Responsibility
Maxem Project Manager (PM) Acts as the main point of contact during onboarding. Coordinates planning, progress tracking, and communication in relation to Maxem deliverables
Maxem Technical Delivery Manager (TDM) Responsible for the technical execution of Maxem related deliverables. Ensures configurations, integrations, and system validations meet Maxem standards.
Customer Provides site-specific details, approvals, and ensures local readiness (e.g. electrical setup, internet connection, access to site).
Partner  Responsible for on-site installation, local testing, and ensuring hardware is prepared according to Maxem specifications.

Completion Criteria

A project is considered successfully onboarded when:

  • All installations are verified and operational

  • Optimization results are confirmed

  • Commissioning documentation is shared

After Onboarding

Once onboarding is complete, your project transitions into Regular Operation.
In most cases, the partner serves as the first point of contact for the end customer. Maxem supports the partner with  troubleshooting and technical assistance when needed.
