What is the Maxem Energy Cloud?

The Maxem Energy Cloud was created for both partners and customers (charging point owners), with individual logins for both types of users. These logins enable users to:

  • Monitor and manage charging points online.

  • View and track transactions on charging points using both public and non-public charging cards.

Tree Structure

The Energy Cloud follows a tree structure where:

  1. Maxem:

    • Views all partners and customers (with their organizations, locations, charging points, users, and charging cards) in the Energy Cloud.

  2. Partner:

    • Views all customers (with their organizations, locations, charging points, users, and charging cards) added under them.

  3. Customer:

    • Views their own organizations, locations, charging points, users, and charging cards added under them.

Customer Structure

The structure is layered and can consist of:

  1. Organization(s):

    • One or more organizations.

  2. Location(s):
    • One or more locations under the organization(s).

  3. Charging Point(s):
    • One or more charging points under the location(s).

  4. User(s):
    • One or more users under the organization(s).

  5. Charging Card(s):
    • One or more charging cards under the user(s).

Inherited Settings

Settings can be inherited from the layer above, meaning:

  1. Rates:

    • For Locations: Rates can be inherited from the organization or not.

    • For Charging Points: Rates can be inherited from the location or not.

  2. Access Mode:

    • For Charging Points: Access mode can be inherited from the location or not.

Access Mode Types

The Energy Cloud supports several types of access modes for charging points:

  1. Open:
    • Charging costs are not passed to the cardholder, and any card with an RFID chip can be used to charge without authorization checks.

  2. Whitelisting:
    • Charging costs are not passed to the cardholder, but only authorized cards from the whitelist can charge.

  3. Roaming:
    • Charging costs are passed to the cardholder, and fees are automatically paid by Maxem.

  4. Roaming & Whitelisting:
    • Charging costs may or may not be passed to the cardholder, and fees may or may not be automatically paid by Maxem, depending on the card used.

Charging Point Scenarios

Charging points can be added in two scenarios:

  1. Pre-approved for future installation:
    • The charging point is not yet energized or connected to the platform but will be in the future. OCPP IDs (serial numbers) are reserved and used during onboarding.

  2. Energized and connected to the platform:
    • The platform validates if the OCPP ID is properly connected.

Remote Actions

The Energy Cloud allows remote actions on two levels:

  1. At the Charging Point Level:

    • Request status

    • Activate

    • Deactivate

    • Full reset

  2. At the Connector Level:

    • Remote stop

    • Request status

    • Disconnect charging cable

    • Activate

    • Deactivate

Split Billing:

Supports split billing for two payment flows to/from two different bank accounts for customers:

  1. Main Organization:

    • Pays the subscription (usually the company or employer).

  2. Suborganization:

    • Receives compensation as a private individual (usually the employee, who gets a charging point installed at home by the employer).

Partner Support & Profit Sharing:

  1. Self-service for Partners:

    • Partners can onboard customers (organizations, locations, charging points, users, and charging cards) and provide first-line support.

  2. Profit Sharing:

    • Partners can apply roaming fees for charging with public charging cards and receive a kickback for charging point subscriptions.

  3. Fixed Roaming Fee per Partner:

    • A fixed roaming fee is applied to customers served by the partner, e.g., both customer "A" and "B" from partner "X" use the same roaming fee, but the kWh compensation can differ.

White-label Solutions:

Maxem allows partners to white-label the platform, enabling them to position their own services under their brand.
