What is Dynamic Load Management (DLM)

Maxem’s Dynamic Load Management optimizes EV charging by continuously adjusting power in real-time based on site consumption and renewable generation. Unlike static solutions, it maximizes grid capacity without overloading, integrating seamlessly with solar and storage systems. It enables flexible, cost-efficient charging without grid upgrades, supporting scalable and sustainable energy management.

Maxem’s Dynamic Load Management solution takes EV charging efficiency to the next level by continuously adjusting power distribution in real-time. Unlike Static Load Balancing, which operates within a fixed capacity, Dynamic Load Management actively monitors energy consumption and production at the site to allocate the available power dynamically across all active charging stations. This ensures that the maximum grid capacity is fully utilized without the risk of overloading, providing a highly flexible and efficient energy management solution.

The process begins with real-time measurements of energy flows, including site consumption and renewable energy generation. This data is transmitted to the Maxem Energy Cloud, where advanced algorithms determine the optimal power allocation for each charging station.

Dynamic Load Management ensures that every connected vehicle receives the maximum possible power based on the current grid availability. If additional vehicles connect, the system automatically recalculates and redistributes power to maintain a balanced and efficient load.

One of the standout features of Dynamic Load Management is its ability to integrate with various energy sources, such as solar PV and battery storage systems. For example, when renewable energy production is high, the system prioritizes its use, reducing reliance on grid power and lowering energy costs. In periods of high site consumption, the system scales back charging power to prevent overloading while maintaining the integrity of the grid connection.

Dynamic Load Management is particularly valuable in environments where demand fluctuates frequently, such as logistics centers, office parks, and large residential complexes. At a KPMG office in Amstelveen, for instance, Maxem’s Dynamic Load Management manages 100 Alfen charging stations connected to the Maxem platform. These stations operate efficiently despite the limited grid capacity, with smart charging profiles dynamically adjusting power to each vehicle. This solution enables KPMG to expand its charging infrastructure without requiring costly grid upgrades, ensuring that every EV is charged efficiently and safely.

Maxem’s Dynamic Load Management offers a cutting-edge approach to energy management, blending real-time data with intelligent control. This allows businesses to optimize their EV charging operations, fully utilize their grid capacity, and support sustainability goals while maintaining operational flexibility and reducing costs.
