What are the costs and reimbursement when using roaming?

There are several costs and reimbursements when using roaming.

Maxem platform

  • Backoffice use
For using the Maxem Energy Cloud platform you pay a monthly subscription. This is for both whitelist and roaming use.
  • Roaming surcharge
For every charged kWh you pay the tariff plus a roaming surcharge. This surcharge is to pay for using the charging network. This consists of Maxem and third parties involved in maintaining the network. You can find this surcharge next to the tariff you have setup (The surcharge is €0,04 in the example). The chargecard supplier bills the roaming fees. When you charge a car with a whitelisted pass you don't pay for the roaming fee and surcharge.

  • Reimbursement
You receive back the collected roaming costs minus the roaming surcharge (€0,04 in the example). This will be paid out by Maxem at the end of the following month. The pass user pays for the roaming surcharge, not the receiver (charging station owner.

Third parties

  • eMSP costs
You pay your charge pass provider (eMSP) a monthly fee or you pay an extra surcharge per kWh. This subscription or surcharge for your pass is not visible in the Maxem Energy Cloud and the billing is handled by your charge pass provider.
  • Electricity costs
As an owner of a charging station you pay for the electricity use of the charging station. This will be billed by your energy company. To cover the costs you should set the roaming tariff to a correct amount. When using a whitelist pass, the pass user charges for free. The electricity is still paid by the charging station owner.
