How do I add a charging card as a 'whitelist' charging card?
I want to allow a charging card to charge free of charge at one or more charging stations.
Please note: do not add the charge pass to the platform to the whitelist if you want the the charging sessions to be settled. Public charging passes are often automatically set to roaming and will be charged.
There are two ways to add a charging pass to the whitelist:
- Add the pass with the visible ID (recommended)
- Add the pass with the invisible ID (UID) (only for tags, non-paying charge cards or cards without known visible ID).
Add the visible ID of the charge pass
Charging cards can be easily added by partners as ‘whitelisted’ cards for a customer by following the steps below:
-
Log in to MEC.
-
If you don't have sub-organizations you can skip this step. Navigate to ‘Organizations’ in the left-hand menu and select the relevant customer by clicking on their tile.
-
Navigate to ‘Users’ in the left-hand menu and add the user as either a cardholder or administrator, depending on their role within the organization. Fill in the user’s first name, last name, and email address, and save.
-
Navigate to ‘Passes’ in the left-hand menu. Then click on '+ Add Pass' on the top right and add the charging card by first selecting the correct user. Then, under ‘Public Card ID’, enter the visible ID from the front of the card, provide a nickname, and save. The visible ID has a format of letters, numbers and hyphens. For example NL-TNM-B12345-6. Note: do not fill the visible ID in inside the invisible ID field (UID)
-
The charging card is now added and can be used as a ‘whitelisted’ card for the organization’s charging stations, provided that the access mode is set to use whitelisting.
- Check that your organization's charging card settings are correct:
- For your own organization, click "My organization" in the bottom left corner.
- For a sub-organization, click "Organizations" on the left and then click the organization tile. Click "Organization settings" on the left.
- Under the "Passes" tab, check whether the desired whitelisted passes are set to "Whitelist"
Note: It's possible to add multiple passes to the same user. Repeat from step 4 to add another pass to the same user.
Adding chargepas with the invisible ID (UID)
Important: Only use the Invisible ID (UID) when adding the visible ID does not work. Only use it for tags, non-paying charge passes or cards without known visible ID
Sometimes adding the visible ID of the charge card to the whitelist does not work or the pass or tag does not have a valid visible ID printed on it. Then it is possible to look up the invisible ID (UID) of the charge card and use this ID to add a pass to the whitelist.
Such charging cards or tags can be added by partners or users as ‘whitelisted’ cards by following the steps below:
Find the hidden ID (UID):
-
Log in to MEC.
-
Navigate to ‘Organizations’ in the left-hand menu and select the relevant customer by clicking on their tile.
-
Navigate to ‘Assets’ in the left-hand menu and select the specific charging station where the non-public card or tag will be tested by clicking on its row.
-
Hold the non-public charging card or tag against the RFID reader of the charging station, note the time the card/tag was held, and wait for the acoustic confirmation that it has been read by the station.
-
Navigate to the ‘Logs’ tab in the menu of the asset.
-
In the ‘Filter selection’ dropdown, select the message type ‘Authorize’, so that only authorization messages are shown in the logs.
-
Find the ‘Authorize’ message that matches the timestamp of when the card or tag was scanned and click on it to open the message.
-
Copy the string of letters and numbers from the 'idTag' field, which represents the ‘Hidden ID’ of the non-public charging card or tag. An example of a invisible ID is 04AAAB11CD2345. The hidden ID does not contain hyphens. If the serial has hyphens you are probably looking at the visible ID.
Use the hidden ID to add the pass to the whitelist: -
Navigate to ‘Users’ in the left-hand menu and add the user as either a cardholder or administrator, depending on their role within the organization. Fill in the first name, last name, and email address, then save. If the user already exists you don't have to create a new user account.
-
Navigate to ‘Passes’ in the left-hand menu and add the non-public charging card or tag by first selecting the correct user. Then, under the option ‘Hidden ID’, paste the copied Charging Card UID, give the card a nickname, and save. Filling in a visible ID is not needed. Note : Do not fill the invisible ID (UID) in inside the visible ID field
-
The charging card or tag is now added and can be used as a ‘whitelisted’ card for the organization's charging stations, provided that the access mode is correctly configured for whitelisting.
Frequently Asked Questions
I want to do a bulkimport of 10 or more passes. How do I do that?
It is possible. You can find the instructions for this in this article: Link.
I've added a charge card to the whitelist and we've already used it, but the charge card doesn't have a whitelisted transaction.
If this has happened, it's possible you've incorrectly added the charge card to the whitelist. Check that you haven't made a mistake in the card ID or UID you added, and verify that everything is correct step by step.
How do I edit an existing charge pass in the platform
You cannot edit an existing charge pass in the platform. Instead you need to delete the charge pass by clicking on the pass and then clicking on the recycle bin icon. Next you need to add the pass again with the correct information.
I'm not receiving invoices. Why is that?
If you only charge with whitelist passes, you won't receive any credit invoices. The charging station owner (can be a syndicus or VVE) still pays for the electricity costs, so they will receive the billing through their energy supplier. If you want to export the whitelist transactions, you can. Go to 'Transactions' in the left menu and click the download button in the top right.
