How do I set up an alias to be displayed for the charging station?

Charging stations have a unique serial number, the OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol) ID, which, in principle, remains the primary identifier for the charging station and communication with a platform unless overridden by a configuration tool from the charging station manufacturer. However, partners can assign an alias to a charging station to provide a description or additional details for their service.

Required steps:

  1. Select 'Organizations' from the left menu, then choose the correct organization for which an alias needs to be added to a charging station by clicking on the tile of that organization. This will take you into that organization.

  2. Select 'Locations' from the left menu, then choose the correct location for which an alias needs to be added to a charging station by clicking on the tile of that location. This will take you into that location.

  3. Select 'Assets' from the left menu, then choose the correct charging station for which an alias needs to be added by clicking on the row of that charging station. This will open the charging station settings menu, and the ‘Overview’ tab will be displayed.

  4. In the ‘Overview’ tab, navigate to the “Enter alias here” field and click the pencil icon in this field (this will change the color of the fields from gray to white).

  5. Enter the alias and click on the floppy disk icon to save the alias for the charging station.

  6. Repeat steps 3 through 5 if additional aliases need to be added (e.g., in the case of a charging hub).
